WWF-India kicks off Signature Campaign for Indian Tiger

The fact cannot be denied that the tigers in India are under tremendous threat for survival and the general public needs to support the cause of tiger conservation in a large way. With this objective in mind WWF-India kick started a signature campaign called "Roar of the Tiger" on July 19, 2007 at a function organized at the Secretariat. Hundreds of school children participated in the event and committed their support for the cause of tiger conservation in India.

The issues that we wish to highlight are:

a) The need to act fast - it could be now or never for the tiger
b) The need for more - the government needs to do more and must step up its conservation work
c) The need for you and me to join hands - it is high time that people came out in huge numbers to show their support for the tiger in the wild.

The signature campaign is being conducted in two parallel phases; one running across the country where people put their signatures on large cloth signature panels. The other phase is getting signatures of people online who would love to see the tiger in its wild habitat.

With the support of one million citizens who care for the tigers in the form of their signatures, we look forward to impressing the policy makers and the government to much more for securing a future for the tigers in India.
