Conservation issues

  • Habitat degradation due to infrastructure developments and community dependence on natural resources.
  • Poaching, illegal extraction of natural resources and illegal wildlife trade in the region due to its porous international boundaries with four countries – Nepal, Bhutan, China and Bangladesh.
  • Pressure from tourism
  • Accumulation of waste from different sectors and related pollution of land and water
