The year to come
Apart from the on-going research activities, the CEL will also take initiative and interface with other areas of sustainable development like the linkages between poverty and environment, trade and investment and transnational conservation of biodiversity.
CEL will continue collaborating with government and other agencies through initiating capacity building, policy and advocacy issues for effective implementation of international treaties, agreements and national legislations.
CEL plans to initiate the long-distance environmental law programme in its bid to disseminate information on environmental legal issues to society at large. This outreach programme will be to far-flung rural areas, where the information on enviro-legal issues is minimal.
As far as the legal intervention aspect is concerned, this is increasingly becoming once again the focal area of work. Apart from the long-distance programme, the Center hopes to have an interactive legal website catering to queries on natural resource management relating to legal issues.
